Poly (HDPE) v Nylon Netting

What’s the main difference between poly and nylon netting?

The Poly or high density polyethylene (HDPE) is made from naturally UV resistant materials which do not absorb water and will not rot, but have a lower break strength than nylon. Nylon has UV inhibitor added so it is still UV resistant.

The Poly does not absorb water although the nylon is still fine in wetter climates. The original use for these materials were in commercial fisheries so really either material is fine in more precipitous climates. However Poly is recommended more frequently due to the lessened water absorption. Here is a comprehensive listing on the net specs:
