3 Easy Tips for Preparing your Indoor Sports Facility for the Winter Rush

Now that winter time is rapidly approaching, we’ve created a guide to help facilities make sure you are ready for the busy season.

Condition of Netting

This is the time to make sure there are no weak points or fraying starting on the threads.  This can be done by simply inspecting the threads and pulling on the mesh.  Just take care to not pull to hard on the net.  We have net repair kits available that can help with mending problems with small sections:
Net Repair Kits

This kit contains an 8′ x 8′ panel along with variable sizes of twine.  Perfect for patch repairs on sections that tend to wear more quickly on your net.  This is also an efficient way to extend the life of your netting.  You can also purchase twine separately and purchase a separate custom size panel section using our net calculator constucted with any material used on standard netting.

Hardware Condition

If you have netting that slides you’ll want to check that the net(s) move freely and easily on the cable lines.  This would be the time to upgrade to pulleys especially if the net will need to slide frequently several times a day.  If you only have snap-hooks or carabiners connecting the net to the cable lines eventually grooves will form in the snap-hooks making sliding the net more difficult.  Just keep in mind that if you don’t have a pulley with a removable wheel that can be taken out of the pulley case, you will need to unhook your cable lines in order to get the pulleys onto the cables.  Here are the pulleys available: Roller Wheels

If you notice some sag in your cable lines it is also ideal to check the tension on your cable lines.  If you find your nets are sagging more it may be beneficial to check the turnbuckles and make sure they’re as tight as needed.This diagram shows the correct setup:

Ball (Quantity & Condition)

Another important factor not to overlook are you baseballs and softballs.  Now is the perfect time to set yourself up with a ample supply and also make certain your balls are suitable for use.  Here is a link where you can view our available inventory: Baseballs & Softballs

If you’re a facility that rents out your space along with balls, we’ve learned a helpful tip to help with the loss of balls.  Simply weigh the balls used before and after a session to ensure there haven’t been misplaced balls.  This is especially handy if you have a large quantity of balls on loan.
